Fridays on the Patio | Empower Yourself with RADical Health and Painting Workshop with Celina Leroy
Friday, March 3, 2023, 3:00 - 5:00 pm
KJCC, 53 Washington Square S, NY 10012
Jump into the semester’s first Fridays on the Patio with a listening lab with NYU RADical Health to discuss mental health and wellness initiatives around campus. Afterwards, capture the meaning of your identity in a chill watercolor self-portrait workshop with artist Celina Leroy.
RADical Health is an NYU program that aims to equip students with critical wellness resources to ensure their success in academics and beyond. During this pop-up Listening Lab (for students only), coordinated by Zoe Ragouzeos (Senior Associate Vice President, Mental Health and Sexual Misconduct Support; Executive Director, Counseling and Wellness Services) and Jayson Valcik (Assistant Director, Student Wellbeing Initiatives), students are invited to join together in a judgment-free, advice-free, welcoming spaces where you can be heard and connect deeply with your peers.
Celina Leroy is a Brooklyn-based artist and NYC art teacher. Her most recent artwork focuses on the depiction of people with vascular birthmarks through portraiture and video interviews. The work aims to destigmatize those who have facial differences through the celebration of the subject’s physical uniqueness and lived experiences. Her work was most recently featured at Positive Exposure’s pe109 gallery, where she held self-portrait workshops with the public.
Fridays on the Patio started in Fall 2021 as a space for community, conversation and food to share and enjoy. The programs are student-centered, but open to all.
Co-sponsored by CLACS, CEMS, and the Department of Spanish and Portuguese.
