Yusef Komunyakaa (Bogalusa, Louisiana) is one of the most important living poets in the United States. His vast work includes the poetry collections Copacetic; Dien Cai Dau; I Apologize for the Eyes in My Head; Neon Vernacular: New and Collected Poems; Talking Dirty to the Gods, and The Chameleon Couch. He is also the author of the plays Wakonda’s Dream, Saturnalia and Gilgamesh: A Verse Play. His literary work has won numerous awards, like the Poetry Center Book Award, the Kingsley Tufts Poetry Prize, the Wallace Stevens Prize, and the Pulitzer Prize.
